Why Our Cold-Formed Steel Estimates Hold Up

Cold-formed steel framing is highly repetitive, but that does not make it simple to estimate. Wall heights, stud spacing, gauge changes, openings, load-bearing conditions, deflection requirements, headers, jambs, bridging, and specialty framing can change material quantities significantly.
We measure framing according to the actual wall and structural conditions rather than applying a generic square-foot allowance. Studs, tracks, headers, jambs, bridging, clips, connectors, and other framing accessories are quantified separately where shown.
We also distinguish between structural load-bearing cold-formed framing and non-structural interior metal stud systems because their material specifications, gauges, connections, and installation requirements can differ substantially.

Coordination Across Framing Systems

Cold-formed framing interfaces directly with structural steel, concrete, sheathing, drywall, doors and windows, MEP penetrations, and architectural finishes.
We coordinate framing quantities with the available architectural and structural drawings to identify wall intersections, openings, floor-to-floor transitions, deflection conditions, and framing connections. This reduces the risk of duplicated quantities or missed specialty framing.

Structural Cold-Formed Steel Estimating

Structural cold-formed steel systems often carry gravity and lateral loads and therefore require closer coordination with structural drawings than conventional interior metal framing.
We review member sizes, gauges, spacing, load-bearing walls, headers, bracing, connections, and structural details where provided. This allows the estimate to distinguish structural framing requirements from standard interior partition framing.

Light-Gauge Steel Framing Takeoffs

For contractors bidding light-gauge framing, our takeoffs can provide quantities organized by wall type, stud size, gauge, spacing, track, opening, and specialty condition. This gives estimators a more useful material basis than a single square-foot total.
Where specifications identify different gauges or framing systems, those materials are separated so contractors can apply the appropriate supplier pricing.
