Why Our Mechanical & HVAC Estimates Hold Up

HVAC systems typically combine multiple components that must be coordinated as a complete mechanical system. A project may contain rooftop units, air-handling units, split systems, heat pumps, boilers, chillers, exhaust fans, ductwork, hydronic piping, controls, and specialty equipment.
We review mechanical plans, schedules, equipment schedules, duct layouts, piping plans, specifications, and relevant architectural and structural information to quantify each system and its supporting components.

Coordination Across the Mechanical System

Mechanical systems interact with electrical service, plumbing, structural supports, ceilings, roof assemblies, controls, insulation, and building-envelope penetrations.
We coordinate available MEP and architectural documentation to identify equipment connections, duct penetrations, access requirements, equipment pads, shafts, ceiling devices, and other conditions affecting the estimate.

HVAC Equipment Takeoff

HVAC equipment can be quantified from equipment schedules, mechanical plans, and specifications.
Each unit can be identified by equipment type, capacity, model or scheduled specification, quantity, location, and associated installation requirements where documented.

Ductwork Takeoff

Ductwork can be measured according to size, type, configuration, and documented pressure or insulation requirements.
Straight duct, fittings, transitions, elbows, dampers, flexible duct, access doors, and other sheet-metal components can be separated where appropriate.

HVAC Piping Takeoff

Mechanical piping can include refrigerant lines, chilled-water piping, hot-water piping, condensate drains, and other documented systems.
Pipe sizes, materials, fittings, valves, insulation, supports, and accessories can be quantified separately.

HVAC Controls Estimating

Building automation and HVAC controls may include thermostats, sensors, control valves, dampers, controllers, wiring, and other specified components.
Where the project documents the controls scope, these items can be incorporated into the mechanical estimate.
