Why Our Rough Carpentry Estimates Hold Up

Rough carpentry packages can contain thousands of individual components. Wall studs, plates, headers, joists, rafters, blocking, sheathing, posts, beams, bracing, and connectors can all vary according to structural and architectural requirements.
We review architectural and structural plans to identify framing members, dimensions, spacing, openings, connections, sheathing requirements, and other documented carpentry components.

Coordination Across the Wood-Framing Assembly

Rough carpentry coordinates directly with foundations, structural steel, concrete, roofing, insulation, doors and windows, and MEP penetrations.
We coordinate architectural layouts with structural framing information to identify changes in wall configuration, openings, floor systems, roof framing, and other conditions affecting quantities.

Wall Framing Takeoff

Wall framing quantities can be separated by wall type, stud size, spacing, height, and location.
Openings for doors and windows can be coordinated with framing layouts to identify headers, trimmers, king studs, sills, and other framing components where documented.

Floor Framing Estimating

Floor framing can include joists, beams, posts, rim boards, blocking, hangers, subfloor, and related framing hardware.
Structural plans can be reviewed to identify member sizes, spacing, spans, and support conditions.

Roof Framing Estimating

Roof framing may include rafters, trusses, ridge members, beams, blocking, sheathing, and related connectors.
Architectural roof plans can be coordinated with structural framing plans to establish the documented roof framing scope.

Lumber Sheathing & Blocking Takeoff

Wood sheathing, backing, blocking, nailers, and furring can be quantified separately from primary framing members.
This helps contractors identify material requirements for areas that are easily overlooked in a general framing allowance.
